The purpose of this semester-long course will be to familiarize students with
the U.S. economy. A secondary purpose will be to give students who plan to
study abroad experience taking a class in the English language.
This course is taught in English (英文). During the first couple weeks I will
give a statistical overview of the U.S. economy. Then each week we will
discuss one particular topic such as: demography, labor, education, health
care, energy, taxes, etc.
Grades will be based on bilingual classroom presentations, a short paper
written during the final exam period and class participation.
Instead of a textbook, we will rely heavily on the U.S. Council of Economic
Advisors reports to the President and articles from the Journal of Economic
Perspectives.
